"Outstanding Artist"
Award
This year I susbmitted two paintings for the Cambridge Art Open, an exhibition open to all artists in Cambridgeshire. In an October weekend, the exhibition took place in the village of Swavesey. With over 200 artists submitting work, it was probably a difficult choice for the judge to decide.
I'm delighted to have been awarded the prize of "Outstanding Artist" for my painting Winter Sunrise, Stourbridge Common - Plein Air.

I painted this one winters morning in 2019, I can still remember the cold of the frosty landscape and the warm morning sun as it rose. It’s impossible to predict how the landscape will look and what you will encounter, when you go out plein air painting, you have to be prepared for anything. The sun kept me warm, while it was rising, although it was difficult to paint contre-jour (facing into the light). Clouds did eventually cover the sky and what was a beautiful sunrise, illuminating the land before me, soon was covered in grey clouds and fog; which has its own appeal.
